Only the outer layers of the oat grain, the germ bud and the endosperm are used to produce our oat bran. From a nutritional standpoint, oat bran is more valuable than flakes, as the outer layers contain about 80 – 85 % of the ingredients and a significant amount of fibre. Oat bran also contains, among other things, beta-glucan, which has been shown to lower cholesterol levels and aid digestion.
